Mamprusi Youth Association accuses security forces of complicity in targeted attacks

The Mamprusi Youth Association – Binduri Chapter has raised alarm over what it describes as systematic targeting and existential threats against Mamprusis in Binduri and Gumyoko.

The group claims that Mamprusis are being forcibly eliminated through coordinated attacks, intimidation, and misinformation.

According to the group, despite their consistent restraint and defensive responses to protect their homes, families, and lives, Mamprusis have suffered numerous acts of violence.

The group stated that poor governance, lack of justice, and the security apparatus’ failure have emboldened the attackers.

The group cited several incidents, including the killing of Mr. Gumah Tahiru and the shooting of six gun-wielding young men.

They accused the security services of complicity, stating that despite repeated attacks from Kusaasi communities, no military operations, searches, or arrests have taken place in Bazua or other Kusaasi areas.

The Mamprusi Youth Association has demanded immediate action, including an independent investigation into the actions of military officers stationed in Bazua, removal of identified officers, and an end to political and traditional interference in security operations.

They also called for a ban on motor riding within Binduri and its environs and fair disarmament operations.

The group warned that if these attacks continue and responsible bodies do not act quickly, they will defend themselves, but they are aware of the dangers of letting the situation escalate.

They called on the international community, including the United Nations and ECOWAS, to step in and help.

“We are Mamprusis. We cannot and will never become Kusasis overnight. We are Ghanaians. We deserve justice. We demand peace now,” the group stated.
