A member of the Mamprusi Youth Association in Bawku, Majeed Bagura, has made a passionate plea for the government to establish a permanent military base in Binduri to safeguard lives and property.
This appeal comes amid the recurring conflict between the Kusasi and Mamprusi ethnic groups in the area, which has claimed numerous lives and displaced many.
On Sunday evening April 13, 2025, a Police officer was reported killed by unknown assailants in Binduri. This was after another person was killed and burned together with his motorcycle.
In order to curb the killings and the attacks, Majeed Bagura is suggesting that a permanent military presence in Binduri would help deter violence and protect civilians.
He also urges the government to temporarily reinstate the motor curfew that will help reduce movement and prevent further clashes.
The youth leader calls on the Binduri Member of Parliament Mahamoud Issifu to intervene and work towards finding a lasting solution to the conflict.
