Police have arrested a 21-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed a firefighter during a late night fire that tore through a storey building at Adjiringanor in Accra on Friday.
Witnesses said the man, identified as Azumah Sampson, tried to force his way into the burning structure while firefighters worked to contain the flames.
Officers say he attempted to loot the property and attacked one of the responders when they stopped him.
The firefighter suffered an injury to the left arm and was taken for treatment.
Sampson was arrested at the scene and is now in police custody while investigators continue their work.
