A man accused of threatening police and military personnel in a viral video has been arrested in the Ashanti Region, police have said.
The suspect, identified as Opoku Emmanuel, was arrested on Wednesday at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District by the Inspector General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team working with local police.
Police said the suspect appeared in a video wearing a mask and warned officers not to attempt to arrest armed robbers. He also allegedly threatened to kill any police officer who confronted him.
The video circulated widely on social media and prompted an investigation by the police.
In a statement, police said Opoku Emmanuel is currently in custody and will be put before court.
Authorities say investigations are continuing.
