A high-profile delegation from Manhyia Palace paid a morale-boosting visit to the squad of Asante Kotoko on Thursday, February 12, as the team prepares for Sunday’s highly anticipated Super Clash against Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors confirmed the visit in an official statement, revealing that the delegation was led by Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff Mr. Kofi Badu. He was joined by Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, and other distinguished traditional leaders from the Ashanti Kingdom.
The visit was aimed at inspiring and motivating the players ahead of one of the biggest fixtures of the Ghanaian football season. The Super Clash between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak is more than just a match — it is a historic rivalry that captures national attention and often shapes the direction of the league campaign.
Kotoko head into the crucial encounter on the back of a difficult week. The Reds suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Heart of Lions before crashing out of the FA Cup following a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to Aduana FC at the iconic Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday.
The FA Cup heartbreak also led to the resignation of head coach Karim Zito, leaving the club searching for renewed direction and stability at a critical point in the season.
