The Paramount Chief of the Mankpan Traditional Area has made a passionate appeal to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and the government to provide the traditional area with a police post.
Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi I made this appeal during this year’s Damba Festival at Mankpan in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The Mankpan Traditional Area is an agrinarian enclave with farmers producing cash crops, yams, millet and maize.
The area also has Fulani herders rearing cattle for food and sale.
Concerned about their security, the traditional ruler of the Mankpan Traditional Area called on the Inspector General of Police and the government to construct a police station in his traditional area.
“This will not only serve Mankpan but the surrounding communities as well, ensuring that law and order are maintained and that peace continues to prevail.”
He also urged the two major political parties in the region, NPP and NDC to engage in politics devoid of vilifications.
“Let us focus on the challenges facing our people and propose solutions to improve their lives. Insults, intimidation, and violence have no place in our democratic process.”
