Melcom Limited has dismissed reports suggesting that a building belonging to the company collapsed at Avenor in Accra, stressing that none of its facilities has been affected by the incident.

In a statement issued on Sunday, June 7, 2026 the retail company said it had taken note of media reports regarding a building collapse in the Avenor area but clarified that the structure in question is not owned by or connected to Melcom.

“We wish to state emphatically that the building that collapsed does not belong to nor is it associated with Melcom,” the company said.

According to the statement, the collapsed structure is located “within the vicinity of Ashfoam and Melcom Plus” but is not part of the company’s properties.

The clarification comes amid public concern following reports of the collapse, which sparked speculation on social media and in some media outlets about the identity of the affected building.

Melcom expressed sympathy to persons who may have been impacted by the incident but assured customers and stakeholders that all its facilities remain intact and operational.

“None of our buildings or facilities at Avenor or any part of the country has collapsed,” the company stressed.

The company further reiterated its commitment to maintaining high safety standards across its operations, noting that the structural integrity of its facilities remains a top priority.

“As a responsible corporate entity that prioritizes the safety and well-being of customers, employees, and stakeholders, Melcom maintains rigorous standards regarding the structural integrity and maintenance of all its buildings and operational facilities,” the statement said.

Management added that its stores, including Melcom Plus and other branches nationwide, remain “safe, secure, and fully operational for shopping and all legitimate business activities.”

Melcom encouraged customers to continue patronising its services with confidence, assuring them that their safety remains paramount.

The company said it would continue to monitor developments surrounding the incident and joined the rest of the nation in wishing those affected a speedy recovery.
