Mfantsipim School has emerged victorious in the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), clinching the coveted trophy for the third time.
In a nail-biting grand finale, the Botwe Boys edged out two-time champions, St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), by a single point, scoring 47 points to Augusco’s 46. Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco) finished third with 32 points.
The competition, produced by Primetime Limited and sponsored by the Ghana Education Service in partnership with GOIL PLC, saw Mfantsipim School stage a stunning comeback in the final round to seize the lead.
Augusco had dominated the competition early on, but Mfantsipim’s relentless pursuit paid off. Ketasco’s correct answer to the final riddle question proved pivotal, giving Mfantsipim the edge they needed to secure the trophy.
The contest began with a dazzling display of brilliance, with Mfantsipim and Augusco tied at 24 points after the first round. The intensity soared in the second round, with Augusco stretching their lead to 34 points.
However, Mfantsipim stayed focused, closing in with 31 points. Ketasco struggled to keep pace, scoring 12 points.
In the third round, each school showcased exceptional intellectual prowess. As the fourth round concluded, Augusco led with 46 points, but Mfantsipim trailed closely behind with 44 points.
The electric atmosphere in the auditorium reached a fever pitch as supporters from all three schools cheered on their teams.
Mfantsipim’s victory marks a triumphant moment for the Botwe Boys, who demonstrated grit, teamwork, and academic brilliance.
