A stout youth leader in the Garu district of the Upper East Region who doubles as the Garu constituency Youth Organiser of the NDC, Sulley Abanga, has openly condemned the killing of the three young men in Bawku by the military.
Jalil, Latif, and Dauda met their untimely death when the military officers invaded their home on Thursday evening.
The three were whisked away by the military and were later brought back to the scene where they were arrested and shot multiple times.
In line with this, the NDC Youth Organiser Sulley Abanga thinks the military are been compromised in their actions in Garu and Bawku.
Late last year, the military invaded the Garu areas at midnight and smoked out innocent citizens and subject them to beatings, leading to the death of one and injuries of many others.
Currently, residents of these areas have stated that they have lost faith in the security agencies and are calling for their withdrawal from the area.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has debunked accusations of involvement in the deaths of the three individuals.
“It is instructive to note that directly engaging the military is a development that could result in fatal consequences; as troops will spare no opportunity to defend themselves as well as protect residents of Bawku. Therefore, factions in the Bawku conflict are cautioned against drawing the military into direct armed confrontation while efforts are undertaken to resolve the current impasse,” the Ghana Armed Forces said in a statement.
