Minority boycotts approval of new ministers of Pres Akufo-Addo

The appointments of Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Herbert Krapah as the Minister of State for the Energy Ministry have been approved by Parliament.

The Minority staged a walkout in front of the vote, arguing that President Akufo-Addo’s nominations would expand government and increase spending, hence the approval was biased.

Concerns identical to these had previously led the Minority caucus to abstain from the Appointments Committee’s screening of the appointed ministers.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader, refuted allegations that the government is growing larger in the midst of a financial crisis.
