The Minority Caucus in Parliament is demanding an urgent investigation into the medical qualifications of Dr. Ann Sansa Daly, a television host whose recent appointment to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Board was revoked by President John Dramani Mahama.
In a formal letter signed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, the Minority has given the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC) a one-week ultimatum to clarify Dr. Daly’s registration and licensing status.
The demand comes amid growing public scrutiny over Dr. Daly’s professional background, with concerns raised about whether she is legitimately qualified to present herself as a medical doctor in Ghana.
The Minority is specifically seeking answers to three key questions:

Whether Dr. Ann Sansa Daly is currently registered and licensed by the GMDC to practise medicine in Ghana.

Whether she has ever been registered in any capacity with the GMDC—either temporarily or permanently.

Whether GMDC regulations allow unregistered individuals to publicly present themselves as medical doctors or provide medical advice.
Dr. Afriyie stated that the Minority expects the GMDC to verify her professional status not only locally, but also through consultation with its counterpart agency in the United States, where Dr. Daly has previously claimed to have practised.
“This inquiry is not politically motivated,” Dr. Afriyie emphasized. “It is a matter of public interest, professional accountability, and the integrity of our health institutions.”
President Mahama’s revocation of Dr. Daly’s NHIA Board appointment followed days of backlash on social media and among civil society groups who questioned her qualifications and role in Ghana’s healthcare policy-making.
The Minority Caucus insists that transparency is essential to maintaining public trust in the health system and ensuring that only qualified professionals are involved in healthcare governance.
