Minority leadership reshuffle tantamount to coup – Musah-Saaka

Deputy Executive Secretary at the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC), Lawuratu Musah-Saaka has described the recent reshuffling in the leadership of the Minority caucus as a coup.

According to Madam Muska-Saaka, who is a leading member of the New Patriotic party (NPP) Communications Team the reshuffle vindicates her assertion that the new NDC executives takes the main opposition party back to the revolutionary days.

“But what they have done is a coup. Isn’t it a coup? You staged a coup in 2023, are you not going back to the days?” the Deputy Executive Secretary PCSRC wondered

Madam Lawuratu Musah-Saaka speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV emphasised that Ghana has come too far as a country when it comes to democracy and the NDC needs to “watch how they do their operations” adding “Consultation is key and they never missed the opportunity to tell us that.”

“If you can’t consult in your party then what will you do to ordinary Ghanaians if they make the mistake of giving you power? It is clear.” She positioned.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced a change in its parliamentary leadership on Tuesday. The Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak and Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, both of whom have close to 20 years of parliamentary experience, were all replaced as the Caucus leaders.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson was named the new minority leader, while Emmanuel Kofi-Armah Buah was named the deputy minority leader, according to a letter from the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

In addition, Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP for Adaklu, was chosen to succeed Muntaka Mubarak, MP for Asawase, as the party’s new Minority Chief Whip.

Many of the party’s followers criticised this choice, including Tamale Central MP Murtala Mohammed, who questioned the timeliness and applicability of the choice.
