Minority MPs walk out of Parliament in protest over ministerial approvals

The Minority in Parliament has staged a walkout in protest of the approval of Ministers-designate, citing concerns over the size of the government.

Led by Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, the opposition Members of Parliament exited the chamber in objection to the approval process, which they claim is unnecessary given the current economic challenges facing the country.

According to Ato Forson, President Akufo-Addo should be reducing the size of his government, not expanding it.

He believes MPs cannot continue to burden the taxpayer with unnecessary ministerial positions, noting that President Akufo-Addo should be looking for ways to streamline his government, not increase its size.

The walkout comes as the Majority in Parliament moves to approve the President’s Ministerial nominees, despite objections from the Minority.

This is one of the many walkouts in recent years.
