The Minority on the Education Committee has accused the government of boasting about distributing tablets to Senior High Schools without paying the supplier.
Ranking Member, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, revealed that the supplier procured 1.35 million tablets through a loan, awaiting government payment, but none has been made.
Nortsu-Kotoe demanded that the government pay the supplier and disclose the names of schools receiving tablets, as their verification visits found no evidence.
Deputy Ranking Member, Clement Apaak, questioned the government’s dissemination of false information.
He asked the government to stop bragging about tablets “they haven’t paid for,”
On March 25, 2024, the government launched the Ghana Smart Schools Project aiming to distribute 1.3 million tablets to SHS students to enhance teaching and learning across the country.
