The Minority in Parliament has threatened to boycott government business if the Majority fails to show up in the House to lead the process.
Mr. Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, made this known on the floor of Parliament when he raised a quorum, prompting the Speaker to suspend proceedings due to the lack of the required number of 91 MPs.
Mr. Mohammed expressed worry over the absence of Majority MPs from the Chamber, particularly when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer is campaigning in the constituencies of Minority MPs seeking votes.
He noted that Minority MPs could have also abandoned their duties in Parliament to campaign for themselves and their flagbearer, but they chose to prioritize their responsibilities in the House.
The Tamale Central MP cautioned that the Minority would not carry government business if the Majority is not ready to lead the process.
The Speaker of Parliament subsequently suspended proceedings to allow the Majority MPs to return to the Chamber to form a quorum.
