A man accused of murdering a nine-year-old boy has been lynched and set ablaze by an angry mob at Assin Breku in the Central Region.
The man, identified only as Asuo, was alleged to have beheaded the child and cut off his hands. According to eyewitness accounts, a woman in the community raised an alarm after spotting what looked like a human hand inside a sack the suspect was carrying.
Her screams drew residents to the scene, prompting a search that led to a shocking discovery. The lifeless body of the boy was found lying in a pool of blood along a nearby footpath, his head and hands missing.
Outraged by the gruesome scene, some residents stormed the suspect’s house, where they reportedly found a bloodstained bedsheet and a shirt believed to belong to him.
The furious crowd then descended on Asuo, beating him to death before setting his body on fire.
Police officers arrived later at the scene but were unable to save the suspect. Investigations have since been launched into both the alleged murder and the mob action.
