MoMo agents commend IGP, Police over crackdown on mobile money robberies

The President of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana (MoMAG), Mr Edward Ofori Agyemang, has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Ghana Police Service for intensifying intelligence-led operations against armed robbery and criminal gangs targeting mobile money agents and the public.

The commendation was made on May 19, 2026, when the leadership and members of MoMAG paid a courtesy call on the IGP at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

According to the group, the Police Service has demonstrated commitment in addressing robbery attacks, particularly those affecting mobile money vendors across the country.

Mr Ofori Agyemang also praised the Police Service for promoting accountability within the institution and “not shielding their own.”

As part of efforts to recognise the Service’s contribution to crime-fighting, the Association presented a citation, a plaque, and 100 packets of special ice bottle mineral water to the Police Service.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Service, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to protecting lives and property.

He assured the public that the Police Service would continue to pursue and prosecute criminals involved in robbery and related offences across the country.
