Morocco to host 2023 Club World Cup in February

During his final 2022 World Cup press conference, FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed Morocco will host the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023.

Infantino stated that the FIFA Council authorised the North African country hosting the seven-club tournament at its most recent meeting.

The competition will take place in Morocco from February 1 to February 11.

Morocco will host the Club World Cup for the third time, having previously done so in 2013 and 2014.

The event will feature the winners of the premier club competition in each of the seven continents.

Chelsea are the current champions, having defeated Palmeiras 2-1 in Abu Dhabi in February 2022.

Wydad Club Athletic of Morocco will be the CAF Champions League champions in 2021/22.

Morocco achieved Africa’s finest performance in World Cup history by reaching the semifinals in Qatar 2022, and will face Croatia in the third-place playoff on Saturday.
