Motorists in the Savannah regional capital, Damongo are lamenting over the shortage of fuel that has rocked the town since the first week of January.
According to the residents, the fuel scarcity is taking a toll on their daily lives and are urging the government to act rapidly to avert the alarming situation.
The shortage which started early this month has led to a frantic search for fuel, with many motorists expressing frustration and disappointment over the matter.
Awudu Mumuni, a 45 year old farmer said he scavengered around yesterday but didn’t get some to buy to go to the farm.
” I went round yesterday but didn’t get to buy so today when I had some I bought into this bottle so that when the little in my motorcycle gets finished, I will refill it.”
When Suraj a public worker turned up at his favourite fuel station to purchase some to go to work this morning, he was turned down and shared his disappointment over the matter.
“I came to buy fuel and I learned that there’s fuel shortage but I was getting ready to go to work and as it is like this everything of mine has wasted because this is my means of transport “.
Damongo has five fuel stations, however, only one is operating fully serving both Petrol and Ago Super (Diesel) in the face of the fuel scarcity.
Despite being dotted with five fuel stations, Zen Petroleum is the only fuel station currently serving the regional capital with both Petrol and Ago Super (Diesel).
However, residents are calling for a more permanent solution, urging the government and relevant stakeholders to address the root causes of the shortage.
In the meantime, they are forced to rely on the limited fuel supply available, causing uncertainty and hardship for many.
