Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac Honoured with Sankofa Pan-African Excellence Award for Humanitarian Service

Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of As I Grow NGO, has been honoured with the prestigious Pan-African Excellence in Social and Humanitarian Service Award 2025 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development across Ghana. The award was conferred at a colourful ceremony held at the National Theatre in Accra.

Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac has, over the years, distinguished himself as a passionate humanitarian and development advocate, dedicating his life to improving the living conditions of people in deprived and rural communities. Through As I Grow NGO, he has led several impactful interventions aimed at empowering vulnerable groups and addressing some of Ghana’s most pressing social challenges.

His work spans women empowerment in deprived communities, providing skills training, mentorship, and economic support to help women become financially independent and socially confident. He has also been at the forefront of supporting education in deprived communities, supplying learning materials, assisting needy students, and advocating for equal access to quality education, especially for the girl child.

In rural areas where teenage pregnancy remains a major concern, Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac has championed advocacy campaigns against teenage pregnancy, promoting awareness, education, and responsible life choices among young people. His strong stance on girl-child education has helped keep many girls in school, offering them hope for a better future.

Recognizing the importance of agriculture to Ghana’s economy, he has also extended support to farmers, particularly smallholder farmers, by providing capacity-building initiatives and resources to enhance productivity and livelihoods. In addition, his NGO has played a key role in improving public health by supporting deprived communities with potable water through borehole construction, bringing safe drinking water closer to thousands of households.

The Pan-African Excellence Award is a testament to Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac’s unwavering commitment to service, compassion, and sustainable development. Speaking at the ceremony, he dedicated the award to the communities he serves, volunteers of As I Grow NGO, and partners who have supported the organization’s mission over the years.

This recognition not only celebrates his achievements but also highlights the vital role of grassroots humanitarian efforts in transforming lives. Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac’s work continues to inspire a new generation of social entrepreneurs and development advocates across Ghana and beyond.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac acknowledged the support of his team members, donors and sponsors. He pointed out that,his organization has come far not by his strength alone but through the support of other individuals.
He took the opportunity to admonish Ghanaians to look back to the rural communities wellbeing as well as development. He said As I Grow ngo will continue to fight to salvage deprived communities in the spheres of the operations as a non-profit organization.
