MTN Ghana has announced a temporary service disruption scheduled for the early hours of Friday, January 1, 2026, as the telecommunications company undertakes system maintenance ahead of the rollout of new VAT reform tariffs.
In a public notice, MTN said the maintenance exercise will take place between 12:00am and 4:00am, during which customers will be unable to purchase airtime or data bundles on all platforms.
The four-hour shutdown, according to the company, is to prepare and update its systems for the implementation of the revised VAT structures set to take effect in the new year.
“There is a scheduled maintenance planned for January 2, 2026, from 12:00am to 04:00am in preparation for the new VAT reform tariffs. During this period, airtime and data bundle purchases will not be possible,” the announcement stated.
MTN Ghana apologised to customers for the inconvenience the service disruption may cause and urged the public to make necessary arrangements ahead of the maintenance window.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the notice added.
Customers are encouraged to top up or purchase bundles before the scheduled period to avoid service interruptions.
