NACOC raids drug hotspots in Greater Accra and Oti Regions

The Narcotics Control Commission, NACOC, has carried out coordinated raids on suspected drug hotspots in parts of Greater Accra and the Oti Region, arresting several people and seizing quantities of suspected illegal substances.

The operation, which took place over the weekend, targeted areas in Accra including Kissieman, Dome and Kwabenya, as well as Alavanyo in the Oti Region. Officers retrieved suspected narcotics and other items believed to be linked to illicit drug activity.

The exercise forms part of a wider national crackdown by the Narcotics Control Commission aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks and reducing substance abuse, particularly in urban communities identified as high-risk.

Authorities say the raids were intelligence-led and focused on known drug dens. Several suspects were taken into custody during the operation and are assisting with ongoing investigations. They are expected to be prosecuted if sufficient evidence is established.

The Commission says it remains committed to sustained enforcement efforts and warns those involved in the illegal drug trade to stop or face the full force of the law.

Officials add that similar operations will continue as part of efforts to dismantle what they describe as criminal networks linked to the distribution of narcotics across the country.
