Celebrated Ghanaian actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown has confirmed that she is divorced from her husband, Maxwell Mensah, saying the decision was reached amicably and without acrimony.
The award-winning entertainer disclosed that the separation was mutually agreed after both parties concluded they could no longer continue with the marriage.
She told TV3 in an interview that the divorce has not affected the cordial relationship she shares with her former husband and his family, noting that they remain on good terms and continue to communicate regularly.
Nana Ama McBrown said the marriage, which was contracted under customary law, was dissolved with the involvement of both families, as required.
She explained that while her former husband and in-laws preferred that she stayed in the marriage, she felt emotionally exhausted and chose to move on.
She described Maxwell Mensah as a good man and stressed that the separation was not characterised by hostility, adding that they handled the process maturely and peacefully.
The actress further noted that her greatest joy from the union is their daughter, Maxine, whom she described as a priceless gift.
She indicated that while she remains open to having more children, she has no intention of remarrying.
McBrown also reflected on the longevity of celebrity marriages, urging the public to acknowledge and appreciate couples in the entertainment industry who manage to stay married for many years.
Her confirmation follows months of public speculation and rumours suggesting challenges in the marriage, including reports of alleged infidelity, which had circulated prior to her disclosure.
Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah married 12 years ago and share one daughter.
