Nana Kwame Dankwa: Kotoko Must Stay Strong For Second Leg Against Kwara

Nana Kwame Dankwa, the former Vice Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s National Circles Council (NCC), has acknowledged that while the team’s 4-3 victory over Kwara United in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup play-off was a positive result, there is still much work to be done.

In an interview with Justice Collee on Original TV, Nana Kwame opened up about the players’ mental state following the narrow win, revealing that there were concerns among the squad despite their victory. He explained that while the win was important, the team still felt the weight of their performance, particularly with the tight scoreline.

“After the game, the players were a bit worried,” Nana Kwame said. “They knew they had won, but they felt it was a narrow margin and that they could have done better. The team was tasked to leave those concerns behind and focus on the upcoming second leg in Nigeria.”

The 4-3 win, while a positive result for Kotoko, left fans and players alike with mixed emotions. Despite the victory, Nana Kwame emphasized that the club’s task was far from complete and that they could not afford to relax or be complacent in the return leg.

“It’s important to recognize the win, but we need to shift our focus now to the second leg. The players have been reminded to concentrate fully on the task ahead in Nigeria. Kwara United is a formidable team, and we can’t underestimate them,” he added.

Dankwa also took the opportunity to call for continued support from fans. “We need the fans to keep pushing the team. The players need that encouragement, and we all know that the Kotoko faithful can be a powerful source of motivation.”
