The National Youth Authority has taken a proactive step in promoting cybersecurity awareness among citizens, particularly the youth, by organizing a series of workshops for selected activists and influencers across the country.
The workshops, conducted both online and physically, aim to equip these influential individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to spread cybersecurity awareness across their social media platforms.
This initiative is part of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2025 celebrations, themed “Building a Safe, Informed, and Accountable Digital Space.”
The Alarming State of Cybersecurity
With 2,200 cyber attacks occurring daily, and an attack happening every 39 seconds, the need for cybersecurity awareness has never been more pressing.
Cybercrime costs are expected to reach $10.5 trillion by the close of 2025, up from $9.5 trillion in 2024.
However, knowledge is key to stopping phishing attacks and protecting citizens from cyber threats.
During the workshops, participants will gain valuable insights into various aspects of cybersecurity, including online safety best practices, threat detection, and mitigation strategies.
They will also learn how to identify and report cyber threats, as well as create engaging content to promote cybersecurity awareness among their followers.
By empowering influencers with cybersecurity knowledge, the National Youth Authority aims to create a ripple effect that will promote a safer online environment for all citizens.
