The National Youth Authority (NYA) has announced the postponement of all activities slated for the National Youth Festival 2025 in light of a tragic helicopter crash in Adanse Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

According to a press statement issued by the NYA on August 7, 2025, the decision was made “In solidarity with the bereaved families, and all Ghanaians.” The statement signed by Chief Executive Officer Osman A. Ayariga Esq. expressed “profound regret” over the postponement.

“The NYA, in consultation with its stakeholders, will announce the new dates for the Youth Month activities,” the statement read.

The helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight distinguished statesmen who were en route to Obuasi. The NYA expressed that “our nation is in mourning, and our hearts are heavy with grief.”
