NDC accuses police of mistreating its member in Ahafo Region

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahafo Region has alleged that the police mistreated one of its members during an arrest.

The party claims that the police used physical violence and denied the suspect bail and access to legal representation.

According to the NDC, the incident occurred in Kukuom, where the police arrested a party member over an unpaid debt for wood supplies.

The suspect reportedly admitted to owing money but was beaten and taken away to an unknown police station without bail. He was later transferred to the Sunyani Municipal Police Station, where he allegedly faced further mistreatment.

The NDC criticized the police for their handling of the situation, accusing them of partiality and human rights abuse. The party has called on Ghanaians to urge the police to respect citizens’ rights and follow the law.

The police is yet to comment on the matter.
