NDC branch chairmen revolt against constituency chairman in Akuapem South

Over 70 branch chairmen of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akuapem South Constituency are calling for the removal of their constituency chairman, Kojo Benny, over allegations of cronyism and mismanagement of government slots.

The branch chairmen accused the constituency chairman of sharing job opportunities with friends and cronies while sidelining party members who worked tirelessly for the party’s victory.

They claim this has led to deep disunity within the party, making it challenging to protect the gains made in the last year’s elections in the constituency.

Section of the branch executives in Pakro Zone Six pointed out that Chairman Benny’s actions will harm the party’s progress and are demanding that the party’s hierarchy intervene to address the issue.

They threatened to take to the streets if their concerns were not addressed.

This comes barely a few weeks ago, when another group of party executives in Brekusu have made similar claims against the chairman.

Meanwhile, Chairman Kojo Benny, in a phone conversation, has denied the allegations, stating that the allotted slots were distributed fairly and that, indeed, those behind this name calling does not mean well for the party.

This development comes after the NDC’s historic win in the 2024 parliamentary elections, where they secured over 180 seats, including the Akuapem South Constituency, which was previously held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
