NDC calls for investigation into bribery allegations in Ejisu by-election

The Kwadaso Constituency Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned alleged bribery by the Member of Parliament for the area, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, during the Ejisu Constituency by-election.

The NDC described the footage implicating Nyarko as “appalling and disgraceful” and a “blatant attempt to manipulate the electoral process” in favor of the New Patriotic Party.

They called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter and pursue swift and decisive legal action against Nyarko, citing violations of sections 256 (1) and (2) of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29).

The NDC also demanded Nyarko’s immediate resignation.

Speaking at a press conference at the Kwadaso NDC party office on Wednesday, May 1, Communication Officer, Sylvester Agyapong warned that anyone harboring similar intentions in the forthcoming general elections would face “uncompromising repercussions.”

Agyapong urged the public to unite against corruption and electoral malpractice to enhance the integrity of the country’s democracy.
