NDC Decides: Mahama Ayariga wins Bawku Central NDC primary

Bawku Central lawmaker, Mahama Ayariga has been re-elected to head the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the parliamentary elections in preparation for the 2024 election.

At the just-ended NDC primaries, the former minister of information secured 863 votes.

In the general elections of 2024, Mr. Ayariga will thus serve as the party’s leader for the fourth time.

The two contenders Theo Braimah Awanzam earned 96 votes, while Ustarz Jibreal Sahad received 283.

Former President John Dramani Mahama received 1,201 votes in the presidential primary; Kojo Bonsu received 24, and Kwabena Duffuor, who withdrew from the contest on Friday night, received 9 votes.

Of the total valid votes cast, three were disregarded.
