NDC Flagbearership Race: John Mahama To Submit Nomination Forms Today

As the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) gears toward its internal primaries to elect a flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama is set to submit his nomination forms to contest for the role.

The submission will take place today, Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the National Headquarters of the NDC.

According to reports, the forms will be submitted on behalf of former President John Mahama by Professor Joshua Alabi. The event is scheduled to take place at 1 pm.

The NDC, per its internal calendar, will hold the primaries on May 13, 2023.

Mr. Mahama is set to wrestle the position from three other candidates, including Dr. Kwabena Duffour, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Finance Minister, who will file his nomination form on Thursday, March 23. Former Kumasi Mayor, Kojo Bonsu, another candidate in the race, is also expected to submit his nomination form on Wednesday.

It is currently unclear when the fourth aspirant will file his forms.

Although the submission was initially slated on Monday, Mr. Mahama’s team postponed the event to today upon the request of the party due to the NDC’s “True State of the Nation’s Address.”

“Very sorry for the postponement, which is in response to a request from the party to reschedule because of the presentation of the party’s True State of the Nation Address on Monday,” the notice published by the former president’s campaign team noted.

Mr. Mahama is poised to wrestle power from the ruling NPP in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Elections.
