NDC General Secretary’s wife, Naomi Wolali Kwetey, appointed acting MD of CBG

Naomi Wolali Kwetey has been nominated as the acting Managing Director of the Consolidated Bank of Ghana (CBG), effective March 26, 2025.

In a letter dated March 26, 2025, signed by the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, President John Dramani Mahama made the official announcement of her appointment to the top position at CBG.

Alongside Ms. Shiela Azuntaba, who has been nominated as Deputy Managing Director, Kwetey’s new role at the bank will mark a significant step in her distinguished banking career.

With over two decades of experience in the banking sector, Naomi Wolali Kwetey brings a wealth of expertise to her new role.

She has worked at Ecobank Ghana and the previous Trust Bank, which was acquired by Ecobank in 2011. Her experience spans corporate banking, treasury management, credit, strategic management, and supervisory controls.

Naomi has held several key positions during her career, including Deputy Head of Credit Administration, Treasurer, and Head of Customer Experience at Ecobank Ghana.

Notably, she has led customer experience strategies across five West African countries, showcasing her leadership in multinational banking operations.

A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) and a Chartered Dealer (ACI), Kwetey holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), a Master’s in Business and International Banking and Finance, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Her nomination to lead CBG highlights her exceptional track record in banking and her commitment to driving sustainable growth in Ghana’s financial sector. As she takes on her new responsibilities, industry experts are eager to see the impact of her leadership at the helm of one of the country’s major commercial banks.
