NDC pledges to build national theatre in Kumasi, renovate theatre in Accra

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has big plans to revolutionize Ghana’s creative industry.

At the forefront of this transformation is the construction of a brand-new National Theatre in Kumasi, designed to empower content creators in the region. But that’s not all – the party also aims to modernize the Accra National Theatre, equipping it with cutting-edge technology to serve as a vibrant hub for artists across the nation.

During a meeting with leaders from the creative sector, NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and Baba Sadiq, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikwei Central, emphasized the industry’s immense economic potential.

They highlighted how a revitalized creative sector can drive financial growth, generate employment opportunities, and celebrate Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The NDC’s plan focuses on creating jobs and stimulating economic growth by investing in the creative industry, promoting cultural heritage, and empowering content creators. The party also aims to establish a Creative Industry Council, develop a film policy, strengthen intellectual property protections, and increase funding for the arts.

Former President John Dramani Mahama unveiled his vision to transform Ghana’s creative industry, positioning it as a key economic driver alongside cocoa and gold.

Mahama also highlighted the ongoing revitalization of regional centers for national culture, aiming to preserve Ghana’s rich heritage while fostering economic development.
