NDC Primaries: Police begin investigations into ‘cash spraying’ incident at Ejura Sekyedumase

The Ghana Police Service say they have commenced investigations into the money spraying incident during the NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

In a viral video, Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan, an NDC candidate for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, is seen throwing money at a crowd on election day in Ejura Sekyedumase, in the Ashanti Region.

The Police stated that a committed legal team is currently examining her actions in the video to see whether or not they constitute election-related criminality and, if so, whether or not Police intervention is necessary.

During the NDC primaries, Ms. Wassan showered cash on the people who flung her at the Ahmadiya School Park where voting was ongoing.

Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan standing in her car poured cash on delegates in plain view of security officers and the media.

When questioned about her motivation, she informed a reporter that she realized she had money in her car and decided to share it.

Despite her conspicuous display of wealth, she was defeated in the election by her opponent, current MP Muhammad Bawah Braimah.
