NDC Primaries: Samuel Atta Mills retains candidacy

Member of Parliament for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA), Samuel Atta Mills has won the bid to once again contest in the 2024 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.

The brother of late President John Evans Atta Mills polled 993 votes, while Lawyer Kwasi Austin had 671 votes.

Since his initial appearance in the run-up to the 2016 general elections, Mr. Mills has won the NDC’s primary in the KEEA Constituency three times.

He was the only new candidate in the general election that year to gain a parliamentary seat for the NDC in the Central Region, while the NPP nearly swept away all the seats.

He defeated the NPP’s Dr. Stephen Ato Arthur, the incumbent MP at the time.

In the most recent elections in 2020, he helped the party keep his seat, and in the constituency’s upcoming general elections in 2024, he will represent the NDC.
