NDC Professionals Forum accuses NPP of hypocrisy over peace pact

The NDC Professionals Forum (NDC PROFORUM) has condemned the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) attempt to twist the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) stance on the Peace Council’s peace pact request.

“The NPP’s letter is a blatant display of hypocrisy and dishonesty… We will not stand idly by while they try to deceive the good people of Ghana,” said Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, National President of NDC PROFORUM.

Sam Pee Yalley emphasized the NDC’s commitment to peaceful elections, contrasting it with the NPP’s history of violence and intimidation.

“The NDC has consistently called for a peaceful and transparent electoral process… In contrast, the NPP has a history of violence and intimidation.”

The forum demanded President Akufo-Addo openly condemn and address past incidents, including the military invasion of Parliament, the murder of eight young people during the 2020 elections, the murder of journalist Ahmed Suale, the murder of activist Kaka, and the Ayawaso West Wuogon election violence.

“We demand that the President takes concrete steps to address these incidents and ensure those responsible are held accountable. Anything less would be a betrayal of the trust of the Ghanaian people.”

The NDC Professionals Forum reiterated the NDC’s willingness to sign a genuine peace pact but refused to be “bullied or coerced.”

“Ghanaians deserve better than the NPP’s cynical gamesmanship. We deserve a genuine commitment to peace and democracy,” he noted.
