NDC promises modest ceremony as it launches 2024 campaign in Tamale on Saturday

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its upcoming campaign launch in Tamale in the Northern Region on Saturday is going to be a modest ceremony.

According to the chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party will focus on reaching voters in areas where they live instead of what he calls “jamboree campaigns”.

The NDC has chosen its candidates for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. John Mahama and Professor Jane Naana Opoku will lead the party into the contest.

Former president John Mahama, who is seeking a comeback has toured the country selling his new ideas to the electorates. After picking his running mate, the NDC says it is all set to begin official campaign ahead of the elections.

Though some major local and international polling institutions have predicted a win for the NDC, the party says it will not be complacent.

Tamale, the Northern regional capital will host hundreds of supporters who will be part of what the chairman of the party says is a modest ceremony.

The party says it has organized fund raising activities to rake in funding for the campaign ahead.

National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia said with funding as a challenge and with its desire to reach voters in their constituencies, the campaign launch will be a modest ceremony

“it will be a modest event just to signify that we have blown the whistle for various campaign activities to begin, we ate departing from our usual ways of placing emphasis on jamboree campaigns and so on”

Also known as the General Mosquito of Ghanaian politics, Johnson Asiedu Nketia was emphatic party followers will be schooled on the new campaign strategy to reach more voters with the message.

“We are advising our followers and branches and all, that this year they are going to see a campaign which is different from what happened in the past”

Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the NDC will reach voters in their homes and explain their message of hope to the millions who are seeking for change

Tamale is expected to bustle with activity as loads of NDC supporters from the region and beyond troop there on Saturday for the campaign launch ahead of the 2024 election.
