NDC suspends parliamentary primaries in 15 constituencies

The main opposition party in Ghana, National Democratic Congress (NDC), has put on hold parliamentary primaries in 15 constituencies as it readies to elect candidates for the 2024 parliamentary elections.

The party has also suspended the presidential primaries in the Manhyia South Constituency.

The decision was announced by the NDC Deputy General Secretary, Barbra Serwaa Asamoah (Finance & Admin) in a statement on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

The NDC Functional Executive Committee(FEC) arrived at the decision “in order to have a smooth exercise for the Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries of the Party across the length and breadth of the country,” excerpts of the statement read.

The affected constituencies include; Akwatia, Ayensuano, Afram Plains South, Lower West Akim, Adansi Asokwa, Mampong, Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Odododiodoo

Also, the Amenfi East, Gomoa Central, Akontombra, Tano North, Manhyia South, Assin North, and Efutu.

“FEC is working diligently to ensure that issues bedeviling the above constituencies are dealt with and announce a new date for the Primaries in due course,” the statement added.
