The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will tomorrow, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, hold a wreath-laying ceremony at the party’s headquarters in Adabraka at 10 am to mark the fourth anniversary of the passing of its founder, Jerry John Rawlings.
The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, in a statement said the ceremony is part of activities to honor the memory of the late former President of Ghana. Rawlings, who founded the NDC, passed away on November 12, 2020 [1).
In view of the ongoing “Resetting Ghana Campaign” nationwide, the party has directed all campaign teams across the country to observe a two-minute silence at exactly 10 am in memory and honor of Rawlings.
“All National, Regional and Constituency Campaign teams and executives should take note and observe as directed,” the statement added.
The NDC is urging its members to remember Rawlings’ legacy and contributions to Ghana’s development.
“May the gentle soul of our great leader continue to rest in power and in perfect peace,” the statement stated.
Jerry John Rawlings, a former military officer and politician, led Ghana for nearly two decades, first as a military ruler and later as a democratically elected president.
He is credited with introducing multiparty democracy to Ghana and serving as a transformative leader in the country’s history.
