The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, has strongly condemned the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, over his alleged involvement in a violent attack on officers from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) at Bronikrom, near Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Adjei described the lawmaker’s actions as “unparliamentary” and “a national disgrace,” criticizing him for allegedly leading a mob assault on security officers performing their lawful duties. “Your actions are unparliamentary, and it is a shame for you as a member of Parliament. How can you fight against what the President and the entire nation are seeking? You have truly embarrassed everyone,” Mr. Adjei wrote.

The alleged attack reportedly occurred on Saturday, November 1, 2025, when NAIMOS officers carried out an anti-illegal mining operation at Bronikrom.

The task force, led by Colonel Dominic Buah, arrested two suspects identified as Zakaria and Kwame Alex, and seized several items including a Range Rover, an unregistered Toyota RAV4, a Smith & Wesson pistol with ammunition, 12 mobile phones, and various mining tools.

According to a police situational report, the team also destroyed makeshift mining structures and equipment before transporting the suspects and seized items to the Hwidiem Police Station. However, news of the arrests quickly spread through the community, drawing the attention of residents and sympathizers.

Within hours, an angry mob of about 600 people reportedly stormed the police station, demanding the release of the suspects and the seized items. The situation quickly escalated into chaos, resulting in violent confrontations between the mob and security officers stationed at Hwidiem.
