The newly appointed Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), John Ansah, has strongly refuted allegations made by his competitor, Isaac Koomson, suggesting that the election was influenced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under Kurt Okraku’s leadership.
On Thursday, John Ansah emerged victorious in the highly anticipated GHALCA elections, securing 96 votes against Isaac Koomson’s 35. The result was a clear, unanimous win for Ansah, who will now take on the responsibility of leading the association.
However, shortly after the elections, Koomson voiced concerns during an interview, claiming that the GFA played a role in swaying the election results to favor Ansah. Koomson specifically accused Kurt Okraku and the GFA of influencing the process behind the scenes, casting doubt on the legitimacy of Ansah’s victory.
In response, John Ansah expressed disappointment, calling the accusations unfounded and unfair. He asserted that his victory was the result of his hard work and the support of the clubs, not any external influence.
“It’s simply unfair for Mr Isaac Koomson to say my hard earned victory was influenced by GFA President Kurt,” he said in an interview with Gideon Okyere Anim on Original 91.9 FM’s Super Sports Show.
The new GHALCA Chairman further stressed that his leadership approach would focus on inclusivity and collaboration, and that he valued Koomson’s involvement for the future of GHALCA.
“I have assured him [Issac Koomson] that I will need his support as we work together for unity and progress in the association,”John Ansah added.
