Ngleshie Amanfro hosts Weija Dam but the community lacks water supply – Chief

Nii Kwashie Gbolor IV, Divisional Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality, has expressed concern over the slow pace of development in the area, particularly the lack of pipe-borne water and poor road network.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Ngleshie Amanfro Yam Festival, Nii Gbolor IV questioned why the area has been denied pipe-borne water despite portions of their land being used for the construction of the Weija Dam, which serves most of Accra.

He noted that the community has not enjoyed stable water supply since their resettlement in 1974, affecting commercial and domestic water users.

The Chief also lamented the poor road network, which he said is hindering economic growth in the area.

Numo Kankam II, Traditional Chief Priest of Ngleshie Amanfro, emphasized the importance of upholding culture and heritage, dispelling claims that their culture is idolatrous.
