NHIA assures public as system glitch disrupts some hospital services

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has assured the public that it is working swiftly to fix a technical problem affecting some electronic hospital management systems across the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 6, 2025, the Authority said the temporary disruption has interrupted parts of the digital system used by hospitals and clinics to process services for National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) members.

Despite the setback, the NHIA has directed all accredited healthcare providers to continue serving patients without interruption. It urged them to use the alternative mobile phone–based platform to generate Claims Check Codes (CCC) so that care can continue smoothly.

The Authority emphasised that NHIS members must not be made to pay cash or face any extra financial burden because of the system breakdown.

NHIS members facing difficulties are encouraged to contact the NHIA Call Centre on 054 444 6447 for assistance.

“The NHIA sincerely appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of healthcare providers and NHIS members as the Ministry of Health, together with relevant stakeholders, works urgently to resolve the issue and restore full system functionality,” the statement said.

The Authority added that it remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted access to healthcare for all members under the scheme.
