The National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, has paid more than GH¢392 million in vetted claims to healthcare providers for services delivered under the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, over a two month period.
The payments, made in December 2025 and January 2026, total GH¢392,031,851.26 and form part of the Authority’s commitment to timely reimbursement of service providers across the country.
In December 2025 alone, the NHIA disbursed GH¢301,658,338.13 in claims. This was followed by an additional GH¢90,373,513.13 paid in January 2026, bringing the combined total to nearly GH¢400 million.
According to a statement from the Finance Directorate of the Authority, the bulk of the payments went to public and private health facilities, which together accounted for about 80.55 per cent of the total amount paid. Mission facilities received the remaining 19.45 per cent.
In actual figures, public health facilities received GH¢157,164,301.62, while private health facilities were paid GH¢158,630,317.29. Mission facilities received GH¢76,237,232.35.
The NHIA said the payments reflect its resolve to promptly settle claims and ensure that healthcare providers are able to continue delivering quality services to NHIS members nationwide.
