Nii Armah Ashietey gets final nod for NDC chairmanship race

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in its preparedness for its national executive election had its aspirants for the chairmanship position vetted on Tuesday 14th November 2022 at the party headquarters in Accra.

Nii Armah Ashietey was accompanied by jubilant supporters to the vetting ground.

When asked about his mission and vision for the position, Nii Armah Ashietey indicated that he has the desire to strengthen the party’s branches and grassroots.

He is of the conviction that there must be deputy executives appointed at the branch level. This he thinks will make the party work at the branch level more effectively and efficiently.

Nii Armah Ashietey told the vetting panel that when he becomes the chairman, he will work hard through the party’s constitutional review to ensure that all branch members in good standing be made to vote in subsequent elections for branch, constituency, regional and national executives.

He believes the move will strengthen and enlarge the democratic base of the party.

He also pointed out that under his chairmanship he will create opportunities for employment, skills development for entrepreneurship, and quality education when the party wins the 2024 general elections.

Balloting was done immediately after the vetting.

The candidate will be contesting three others for the chairmanship position and picked the fourth position on the ballot.

The NDC national executive election is scheduled to be held on the 17th of December 2022 at a venue yet to be announced.
