Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II: A Leader of Vision, Peace, and Justice

Chief of Nokoyedzen-Larteiman, Advocate for Development and Accountability

Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II, known in private life as Solomon N. Aryeetey, has emerged as a transformational leader and a powerful voice for progress in Nokoyedzen-Larteiman. As the respected Manste (Chief) of the community, his leadership has been defined by his unwavering commitment to development, peace, and justice.

A Visionary Leader Committed to Community Growth

Under the guidance of Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II, Nokoyedzen-Larteiman has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, social services, and community engagement. His vision for a connected and sustainable community has inspired initiatives such as the proposed footbridge linking Nokoyedzen-Larteiman to Afutu Township, aimed at enhancing mobility and safety for residents.

Championing the Welfare of the People

Widely respected for his humility and service, Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II has implemented several programs to improve the lives of his people:

Over 1,000 children and elderly individuals enrolled in personal health insurance schemes

Regular health screening programs to detect and treat diseases early

Ongoing efforts to provide clean and accessible water

Advocacy for the construction of a basic education facility

Promotion of a community park for recreation and youth engagement

His peaceful nature and dedication to the rule of law have fostered unity, peace, and stability within Nokoyedzen-Larteiman and neighboring communities — laying the foundation for growth and prosperity.

Empowering the Next Generation

Recognizing the importance of youth empowerment, Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II has launched skill-training and farming programs aimed at reducing unemployment. He continues to lobby the government for support in crop cultivation and poultry farming, which promise both job creation and economic resilience for the community.

A Cry for Justice: Community Demands Accountability

Despite these successes, a shadow hangs over the community following a disturbing incident that occurred on May 9, 2023. The Chief is now raising his voice to seek justice and call for urgent government intervention.

The Incident and Allegations

According to the Chief, the community was rocked by an attack allegedly orchestrated by Daniel Oboabi (aka Nana Yaw Fianko). The event led to injuries and property damage, but despite numerous petitions and peaceful appeals for redress, no concrete action has been taken by authorities.

Worse still, there are allegations of complicity involving some police officers, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), and even a Member of Parliament. This has eroded trust and bred disillusionment among residents.

A Direct Appeal from Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II

“I am appealing to the Minister of the Interior, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), CHRAJ, and the Attorney General to act immediately. My people have been patient and peaceful, but our trust in the justice system is fading. We need answers, we need protection, and above all, we need justice.”

Calling Out Double Standards

The Chief questioned the perceived selective attention of national authorities, drawing a comparison with recent swift responses to political violence elsewhere in the country:

“When the by-election violence occurred in Ablekuma, the authorities responded quickly. Why not us? Are we less Ghanaian? Are we waiting for bloodshed before action is taken?”

A Warning Against Inaction

Nii Lartei Nokoyedzen II warns that the current situation, if left unresolved, could escalate into violence and social unrest. He reiterates his commitment to peace but urges the government not to test the limits of the community’s patience.

“We have followed the law, written petitions, and waited. If nothing is done, the consequences could be dire. Let us not wait until lives are lost before acting.”

A Final Call to Action

The people of Nokoyedzen-Larteiman are not asking for special treatment — only for fairness and justice. The Chief’s appeal is clear and direct:

“The time to act is now. Let justice be done, not just for the sake of my community, but for the integrity of our institutions and the peace of our nation.”
