NLA Good Causes Foundation Donates 100,000 Cedis to Combat Meningitis Outbreak in Upper West Region

The NLA Good Causes Foundation has donated 100,000 Ghana cedis to support the fight against the meningitis outbreak in the Upper West Region.

Presenting the cheque to the Upper West Regional Minister, the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul-Salam, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to such causes. “The foundation was set up on such grounds, so when the Upper West Regional Minister called for support to mitigate the outbreak, we couldn’t deny them; hence the donation,” he stated.

On his part, the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, expressed gratitude for the donation. He stated that the funds would be used to tackle the meningitis outbreak and support victims. According to Puozuing, the region has recorded 78 cases and 14 deaths. He emphasized the importance of public sensitization on the disease and added that contact tracing is also being conducted for individuals who might have been in contact with those infected.

Puozuing further mentioned that, apart from the NLA, his office has reached out to several organizations for additional support to combat the outbreak.
