NMC gives Power FM 6-day ultimatum to apologize to Samira Bawumia over derogatory comments

The National Media Commission (NDC) has ordered pro-NDC radio station Power FM to render an unqualified apology to the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia over obscenity comments made on its platform.

A statement signed by its General Secretary George Sarpong dated November 6th, 2023, described the comments by the presenter as derogatory and intended to denigrate the whole Fulani community in Ghana and also ignite ethnic tension.

He added that the comments had no place in a country seeking to promote national cohesion, peace, and development.

The statement further highlighted the fact that the presenter allowed his presence on the medium to cheerlead a perverted broadcast about Madam Samira Bawumia.

The National Media Commission has given the presenter and media a whole 6-day ultimatum to tender evidence of apology to Samira Bawumia and the whole Fulani community.

Additionally, the statement directed the station to apologize to Ghanaians whose sensualities were breached by the presenter’s broadcast.

The statement concluded that after the 11th of November, 2023, they will hear from the commission for failing to do as stated above.
