The Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has assured Ghanaians that all waste cleared during the National General Cleaning Exercise will be collected and properly disposed of, leaving no debris on the streets.
Speaking on the second day of the nationwide exercise on Saturday, Dr. Agyepong said the company had deployed the personnel, equipment and logistics needed to support the clean-up operation across the country.
According to him, waste collection trucks, heavy-duty equipment and sanitation workers have all been mobilised to ensure that refuse gathered during the exercise is transported to approved disposal sites without delay.
He explained that the deployment forms part of a coordinated effort involving Zoomlion Ghana Limited and other agencies under the Jospong Group to support the government’s renewed sanitation campaign.
Dr. Agyepong said the success of the exercise goes beyond clearing drains and sweeping streets, stressing that proper waste evacuation is critical to preventing the refuse from piling up again after the clean-up.
He noted that the company had positioned trucks and other equipment at strategic locations to ensure waste is removed as soon as it is collected by volunteers and sanitation workers.
The National Clean-up Exercise brought together government officials, local assemblies, sanitation workers, security agencies, civil society organisations and residents in communities across the country.
The initiative forms part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation, reduce flooding caused by choked drains and encourage the public to take greater responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.
Dr. Agyepong urged residents to complement the exercise by maintaining clean surroundings and disposing of waste responsibly, saying sustained public participation is essential if the country is to achieve lasting improvements in sanitation.
