The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has set the record straight on reports suggesting some of its top directors have been asked to stay home with pay.
In a press release on August 20, 2025, made available to Metro TV, COCOBOD clarified that “no Director has been asked to stay home and draw salary,” emphasizing that transfers and reassignments are part of a strategic realignment to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
The Board noted that only the former Director of Finance is on leave, having not taken one for eight years. COCOBOD insists its actions are geared towards improving operations.
This clarification comes after the former Head of Public Affairs at COCOBOD, Fiifi Boafo claimed in an interview that several directors had been rendered “almost useless” and sidelined from active duty since President John Dramani Mahama assumed office.
However, COCOBOD stated categorically in its response to the barrage of allegations that “no Director has been asked to stay home and draw salary”
